Philipp Hosiner: «When I found out my world fell apart»

Excited to share my very first interview in German with Philipp Hosiner 🤝

Philipp was part of the FK Austria Wien team that won the Austrian Bundesliga title in the 2012-2013 season, setting a record with 82 points. During that season, he was the league’s top scorer and Player of the Season, scoring 32 goals and providing 10 assists.

The following year, he transferred to French club Stade Rennais F.C. for a fee of nearly 2 million euros, signing a three-year contract. His dream was to play in the Bundesliga, a move that was supposed to happen six months later. However, during a routine medical check, a tumor was discovered, and he had to undergo surgery immediately. Despite doctors doubting his ability to compete at the top level again, Philipp fought his way back and eventually signed for 1. FC Köln in the Bundesliga, making his dream a reality.

Philipp went on to play for 1. FC Union Berlin, Chemnitzer FC, and SG Dynamo Dresden e.V., where he helped the club secure promotion to the second division. Today, he plays for Austria Vienna’s second team, the Young Violets, in Austria’s third division, serving as a leader for the next generation of football talent.
